| Verstaald Wood Ice Skates |

| This is a handsome pair of hand made Verstaald Dutch wood ice skates. They have leather straps and cotton ties (which have been replaced at some point). The wood portion is formed in the boot sole shape and has a drop out for the heel of a boot. From my research I believe the wood and blades to be c. late 1800’s, probably 1890’s. I have seen skates similar to these priced at almost $300.00. These ice skates are very old and have definitely been used, they have cuts and scratches to the wood and rust on the blades, but I think this just adds to the charm of this handsome pair. I suppose that these could actually be used but, designers and clients, usually use these to decorate dens, studies and home theatres for a vintage sporting decor. |
