Description:  You are viewing a handsome vintage Barrister (Attorney/Lawyer) Toby Character Humidor or Biscuit Jar that was produced by Shorter & Son Ltd. of the Staffordshire region in England.   It is marked on the bottom with ink: " Genuine Staffordshire Hand Painted Shorter & Son Ltd England, and impressed in the ceramic is: Shorter England.  Also embossed with the number 553.  This vintage lidded jar is a great and useful decorative piece that should only increase in value. This would be great for an attorney to keep office supplies in, also any Toby/Character or Humidor/Biscuit Jar collector. 

Condition: Good condition.  This is a beautiful quality piece, no chips to the ceramic, just some misplaced paint and some roughness to touch on the rim, some bubbling and small scratches to the paint on the lid and some brown staining to the bottom.  It has all over crazing, which is to be expected with vintage ceramics.
