Description:
You are viewing a
beautiful vintage (almost antique) porcelain salt and pepper shakers.
They are covered with transferware & painted flowers (one has single
stems the other has bouquets) , but the colors match and they are marked
exactly the same) and topped off
with what I believe are silver or metal plated? lids. The porcelain portion is
marked on the bottom: Thomas, Germany in green under glaze and the number 1372
is embossed into the porcelain. The mark indicates that these were
produced by F. Thomas Porcelain Factory in Marktredwitz, Bavaria, Germany
c. 1908. The lids have a mark also, it reads: NS with a rectangular box
over the top. This is a lovely and unique vintage German set that would make a
very impressive display.
Condition:
The porcelain is in very good condition with no chips or cracks, a small
amount of staining to one where the lid connects (does not show when the lid is
on). One
of the lids is corroded and has flaking to the plate that shows the metal
underneath with some rust and it has some green and brown residue on the inside
that will need to be cleaned before using (I think that both of these were
caused by salt being left in the shaker for a long time), the other lid is fine
(see photographs).
Approximate
measurements: each
is 1 3/4 " W 2 1/2 " H.

is a truly handsome and unique vintage item |
