Nippon Art Nouveau Moriage Vase |
|
This is a lovely Nippon Art Nouveau Moriage two handled pedestal vase. It is marked with the Maple Leaf mark which indicates that this piece is c. 1891-1905. It has a wonderful grouping of hand painted roses surrounding the lip of the vase. It is decorated with Moriage beading around the roses and in circles around the base and center of the vase. The band is a lovely turquoise color and the hand painted flowers are pink and burgundy, they are just amazing. There are lovely gold vines dipping down onto the turquoise band. It is in good condition, no cracks. There is a fair amount of gold lose though and it has three chips to the rim on the base. But fortunately they are fairly close together so that you can turn the other side out and not see them. It has its flaws, but it is a lovely antique Nippon vase and priced reasonably. I have seen similar vases priced between $250.00 and $350.00. |
