Tall Vintage Roseville Home Art Blended Art Pottery Tankard 1908 |
|
This handsome vintage, almost antique "Blended" finish tankard is attributed to Roseville though not marked, as these seldom were. This tall tankard has a decorative decal, that is partially missing, of a lovely yellow and green flower. The appearance is charming. The pottery is a wonderful color that Roseville called "blended" a dark and light brown drip style glaze finish. As stated in the reference "Roseville/ In All it's Splendor, by Jack and Nancy Bonn", Home Art 1908 is "believed to be a do-it-yourself or customize your own pottery line which featured oversized floral designs. The shapes had a shiny glaze and came in brown only. All were unmarked." The customer would buy the tankard, chose a decal and have it put on at the store, or would apply it themselves. "The Ohio Historical Society", mentions that these items were c. 1908.
Dimensions: Approximately: 12" H , 4 3/4 " W (top rim with spout), 5 1/2" W (base)
Condition: Very Good, a handsome collectible that would be charming in any home. The pottery has no chips or cracks, just a manufacturing flaw (small lump under glaze) on the bottom rim. View pictures and if you have any questions please e-mail before bidding .
This is a unique item that is a vintage, almost antique collectible that would make a charming decorative piece alone on a mantle, shelf or on a table with an arrangement. |
