Vintage Treen Biscuit Barrel - Oak/Silver Plate |
|
This is a lovely vintage (c. 1920's) oak biscuit barrel that has silver plate trim, handle and blank cartouche. The insert is of white ceramic. This one was imported from Edinburgh, England. These were originally given out as awards (trophies in America) and used to put tea cookies (biscuits). This one has a blank cartouche which is wonderful because the new owner could have their own initials engraved. It has a few little flaws, two small dents in the lid, some dents and ware to silver plate rim, small crack in the wood. Add vintage English charm to any room with this biscuit barrel and put candies, paper clips, hair items, jewelry or tobacco in it or just display it with oak or silverplate candlesticks . |
