French Confit Glaze Pot - Avacado |
|
This is a wonderful French Confit Glaze small-mouthed pot that was purchased at an antique fair in Paris. These types of pots were used in the mid 19th to early 20th century for keeping dried herbs and preserved (Confit) duck. They are now coveted as fantastic decorative pieces. They have been featured in Veranda and Architectural Digest magazine articles as decorating must-haves for the designer home. They are great displayed in groupings or alone with a silk or dried arrangement. This one is an Avacado color. The condition is good, it has the normal crazing, glaze and pot chips for an old piece. This one has two flaws from when it was thrown, a lump on one side and a dent on the other, but I think that it just adds character. This one is signed M CASTIS 32. See photographs for the items mentioned above. Approximately 9" H, by 8"W at the belly. |
