Antique Monkey Wrench/Wood Handle (Worcester, Mass.) |
|
This is a great looking thoroughly used antique monkey wrench. It has a wonderfully worn wood handle that consists of two pieces placed together and held by a screw or rivet. It is very heavy for it’s size, 6 ½” in length. It is in fair condition, but the mechanism works smoothly. It has dents and pitting to the metal. The wood handle is chipped some (which is worn smooth) and has one crack (see photos). I think that it has held up well though, considering it is approximately 120 years old. All in all it has a wonderful worn and used patina, as an antique tool should. It is c. 1880’s, as it is marked: L. GOES/ PAT’D./ DEC.15-1881/ APR.80.1885 on one side. On the other side it is marked: GOES/ WRENCH CO./ WORCESTER/MASS. This would make a great addition to any antique tool collect; it could be displayed and used. |
