wonderful vintage Rosenthale fine china plate produced in Selb, Germany
(W. Germany). It is a rich Cobalt blue with gold decoration and rim.
The scene is of a goose in flight over a group of cat tails. The plate is
marked on the back with embossed numbers 2114 and a green under glaze makers
mark, it has a crown with a large x underneath and it
reads: Rosenthale / Germany / KUNSTABTEILUNG / SELB. In German kunst
translates to art or skill. I could not find the translation of the whole
word (kunstabteilung) . The mark indicates that this plate was produced
between 1907 - 1956 by Philip Rosenthal & Co. This is a handsome
vintage collectable plate that will add beauty & elegance to any
home.
Condition:
It is in very good condition, no cracks or chips. It does have some
wear to the gold of the design and the rim, with a 1/16th inch of a spot of
something light colored on the gold rim. Small surface scratches from cleaning.
