| This is a unique and elegant vintage English Chintz cream and sugar set. It is covered with beautiful roses and various foliage. Each one sits on four cute little feet. Gold trim surrounds the ornate edge lines and there is lovely accent work on the baroque style handle. The mark reads: BONE CHINA/HAMMERSLEY & CO./MADE IN ENGLAND. View the photographs for the mark and numbers on the bottom of both pieces. Both pieces of transferware are signed by the artist: F Howard (see photograph). This unique set dates from the 1920's or 30's and was produced in Longton (Staffordshire Region) England. Creamer measures approximately 5" L by 3" W & 4" H and the sugar is 5 1/4" L by 3 1/2" W & 3" H. The condition is very good, a beautiful well preserved set of English Chintz, there are no chips or cracks, just wear to the bottom of the feet, which would be normal for vintage pieces. This is a wonderful set of unique vintage English bone china which would add charm to any collection and grace the most beautiful of homes. |
