| Vintage Romance Goebel Cigarette? Match? Dresser Jar / Lid |

| You are viewing a very elegant vintage Goebel jar with lid. The original use could have been for cigarettes, matches or tobacco. This jar looks all hand painted, but it is hand painting over transfer (I had to look very closely through my magnifying glass to see the transfer). The scenes are of a gentlemen romancing a lady by playing music (on the lid) in one scene and offering a rose in the other (front panel). The painted panels have wonderful detail and are surrounded by gilded trim. The bottom rim and the lid are also gilt trim, the body is painted a lovely burnt orange which was very popular in the early 1900's. The incised marks read: R. G. 779 B. with the crown and W G hallmark. In black ink reads: Germany and 7. I believe that this was produced ca. 1914 -1920. This is truly a lovely vintage piece that you could display in a cabinet, use on a vanity to keep hair pins, an office for paper clips or hide matches in it. A wonderful Goebel collectible and useful treasure to pass on to your children.
Dimensions: Approximately: 3 1/3" H. The lid is oval - 2 5/8" by 2 1/4"
Condition: Very Good, no chips or cracks, it does have some paint missing along the top rim and the gilding has some ware. There is a small amount of tape residue on the rim of the lid. These flaws are all to be expected in a vintage hand painted piece (see pictures).
